Horse Care Mini-Workshop in NJ

Looking for an introduction to horsecare?  Then Somerset County Park may have what you're looking for.

Somerset County Park Commission Lord Stirling Stable is offering Mini-Workshop 101 for adults and juniors seeking to gain experience and confidence around horses through a combination of non-riding activities and hands-on experience.
Equine Mini-Workshop 101 will be held at Lord Stirling Stable, 256 South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge, NJ beginning Saturday, September 18, 2010. Classes run from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M for 5 consecutive weeks.
Participants will learn the proper way to safely handle a horse, groom, and tack up. The parts of the horse, saddle, and bridle are discussed, in addition to horse breeds, colors, and basic horse care. There is no riding involved in this program.

Aggies Tryout

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- New Mexico State equestrian head coach Audrey Eman announced that the Aggies will hold a mandatory tryout meeting for all ladies interested in trying out for the NM State Equestrian team.

The meeting will be held Sept. 8, at 5:00 p.m. on the campus of NM State at the Equestrian Center. Please bring your schedule and calendar with you to the meeting. Ladies will not be able to try out unless they attend the meeting on the 8th, fill out the proper forms, and are cleared by the compliance and athletic training staffs. Ladies do not need to wear riding clothes to the meeting.
